Carol Kanar

Carol Kanar joined the Husson University Board of Trustees in 2004. Dedicated to the Husson mission of student success, Carol became a member of the Women's Philanthropy Council as an additional avenue through which she could help students achieve their dreams. Carol is a veteran educator and textbook author. She resides in Florida but also has a summer home in Surry, Maine.

Carol Kanar earned her Master of Arts in English from the University of Florida and a Master of Education in Reading from Rollins College. For over thirty years she has been a writer and educator with experience in teaching at a secondary school and as a professor of communications at Valencia College in Florida. Between 1979 and 2009, through the Office of Academic Technology at the University of Florida, Carol has server as a reader and scorer for the College Level Academic Skills Test Essay. She has held a position on the Husson Board of Trustees since 2004, and is currently Chair. Carol is a distinguished author, having published several Cengage Learning/Wadsworth textbooks, including the Confident Writer, 5e; The Reader’s Corner, 4e; and the Confident Student, 8e. She has been a long time member of the National Association of Development Education and Lake County Florida Women for Hospice, while also having server on the Executive Board of the Florida Development Education Association. She and her husband, Stephen, currently reside in Mount Dora, Florida.
